What is a Merkaba?
Everyone has a merkaba (also spelled merkabah) or electro-magnetic energy field (aura) that surrounds the body. It is the multi-dimensional vehicle that our consciousness resides in and from which we draw physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy. Consisting of two equally sized, interlocked tetrahedra (one points up and the other down), the merkaba resembles a Star of David inside a circle.
Comprised of three words: Mer (light that spins like wheels within itself), Ka (spirit) and Ba (body), in ancient Egypt merkaba meant a rotating field of light that serves as an inter-dimensional gateway to take the spirit and the body from one world to another. In the Hebrew language the loose translation is “to ride in God’s chariot,” which reminds me of Elijah’s ascension mentioned in 2 Kings 2:10-13. The merkaba needs to be activated in order to spin properly (to resemble a saucer) and allow all of the light body to stabilize in the human body and expand into the next set of dimensional fields of existence and progressively ascend.
One note about the multidimensional planes of existence: Jesus referred to them as “many mansions,” which shows us that there are other life forms co-existing in many different dimensions.
What is a Light Body?
The human body will need to take a different form in order to transcend this third-dimensional level of existence. A crystaline structure that uses light, rather than food and water, as a fuel source is called a light body. There is a lot of emphasis placed upon the eternality of the soul in traditional churches, but not a lot of emphasis is placed on the resurrection body. However, this “glorified” body is mentioned frequently in the Bible.
The light body is less dense than a physical body and is the spiritual body that the soul manifests in the afterlife (think apparition). I believe that it is possible to shift into a light body without having the physical body die, and that an ascended soul can take on the likeness/appearance of any human body at any age he or she has been in other incarnations. I base this belief upon the way Jesus’ followers had difficulty recognizing Him when He appeared to them in His light body. When He appeared to Mary, she thought He was a gardener (John 20:14-15) until He spoke to her. In Luke 24:13-32, He walked and talked with two of His disciples on the road to Emmaus, and they did not realize it was Him until later when He broke the bread. When He called to the disciples, who were in a boat, they did not recognize Him in John 21:4.
I wonder if some of the strange skin sensations I am having and other people are talking about are the body’s response to shifting into a lighter form. At times it feels like pin pricks in a certain area, or like someone is lightly tickling my leg with a feather. Other times there may be one spot that is hyper-sensitive to touch. These sensations only lasts for a few seconds–just enough to get my attention and cause me to question what it might be. Back to the text now . . .
After his resurrection, Jesus was seen in His light body by more than 500 people at one time after He resurrected his physical body. Jesus also appeared in His light body many times while incarnated on Earth. He was in His light body when He came walking on the troubled seas toward His disciples, who thought He was a ghost. In I Corinthians 15, Paul is said to have had an epiphany in which he saw Jesus in His light body. In Mark 9, Jesus met with Moses and Elias, and was transfigured on a high mountain. There, His clothing started shining, whiter than anything on Earth. I find it interesting that Jesus told them that some who were present at that meeting would not taste of death until they had seen the kingdom of God (the New Heaven and New Earth) come with power. Did they see the Kingdom of God in their lifetime? Are they still living among us in carbon-based form? Are they in their light body manifesting as needed? Are they now ascended masters guiding us from behind the veil? Food for thought.
Hariakhan “Babaji” Maharaj is a mahavatar (a human able to materialize a body at will) who goes by many names. Babaji is said to have been alive for thousands of years, dwelling in caves in the Himalayas. Nobody knows when or where he was born. Appearing and disappearing suddenly, he was seen by many people in the 19th and 20th centuries. In a holy cave at the foot of Kumaon Mount Kailash at Haidakhan in India between 1970 and 1984 Babaji was seen primarily as a young man about eighteen to twenty years of age; yet, his appearance varied even when he was observed by several people simultaneously in different places. Witnesses reported that Babaji had great physical strength but ate very little food. He never slept, walked fast, and conversed in whatever language he was addressed. Like Jesus, Babaji performed miracles to alleviate the suffering at hand. But mostly, people are drawn to him because of the bliss they experience in his presence. Several people, including Guru Charnasrit and Baba Hari Dass, have written about him, but the most popular work is Autobiography of a Yogi written by Paramahansa Yogananda.
Might you and I expect to be able to appear in a light body similar to Jesus and Babaji? The light body is our true form. We are transcending into our light body and I believe we will soon start doing even greater works than Jesus did, and this includes being able to bi-locate or dematerialize in one location and reappear in another. I think of Philip, who was miraculously “caught away” by the Spirit after helping an Ethiopian man riding in a chariot understand the scripture he was reading (Acts 8:39). According to the Bible, corruptible flesh will put on incorruption (light body), and this mortal mindset of separation will experience immortality or oneness. From this, I conclude that it is likely that people on the planet who are now undergoing the process of ascension may not experience physical death.
I Corinthians 15: 40-44 talks about our having two types of body: celestial (spiritual) and terrestrial (natural or of Earth material). The terrestrial body will put on incorruption and be raised to the level (vibration) of the spiritual body that can travel to multidimensional planes of existence, or what Jesus referred to as the “many mansions” in His father’s house. Just because we can’t see these realms with our limited spectrum of vision, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I believe that we may even be living parallel lives on other levels of consciousness.

Love the picture and the information, thanks Yvonne.
I believe the more we focus on the energy of the Merkabah, the more we will be able to activate it.
In the light!
